Drawing from the insights of my dissertation, which explored the role of sensory experiences in creating a sense of ‘home’ for adapting to new environments, Scenté was designed as a solution to enhance emotional well-being through personalized scent experiences. My research highlighted how scents are integral to emotional attachment and memory recall, acting as a bridge between one’s past and present. Scenté is an innovative aroma diffuser that allows users to curate their personal sensory environment. Through its companion iOS app, users can customize and name their diffuser, linking each scent container to specific fragrances that resonate with their moods or tasks. This personalization not only fosters a deeper connection with the living space but also supports the user’s emotional adaptation by offering a familiar, comforting sensory experience. By facilitating the creation of signature fragrances, Scenté empowers users to infuse their domestic spaces with the essence of their cultural identity and personal memories, making their new surroundings feel more like home.
